What a sizzle

Last Friday morning a slight panic attack caught our team organising the Bunnings sausage sizzle. We were informed at short notice that we only had to 10:00 am to update some information to ensure the operation would go ahead. Otherwise we might have had to eat the 40kg of sausages at the club after our Monday training by ourselves. Phew, that was a close call. 😉 Thanks to Jen & Mesh for sorting out this little hiccup and we got the call at 11:00am that it was full steam ahead for our first ever sausage sizzle fundraiser.

Fast forward on Saturday morning and the weather gods didn’t seem to be on our side. It was raining, however we were committed and a little bit of rain wasn’t going to stop us. The people from Bunnings were very friendly and their support was much appreciated.

Much to our surprise people were asking to buy sausages at 09:00am already. One guy must’ve been very hungry, he brought 10! The first shift was busy with looking after the BBQ and also getting the bread and napkins in preparation for the lunchtime rush. Cranbourne people must’ve been very hungry because all our sausages were sold close to 1pm. Thankfully Dave had sprang into action before heading off for his pole vault event and organised more sausages.

Before the end of our day at Bunnings there was the cleaning up to be done. Even after 5:00 pm people did ask for sausages but we were well and truly sold out.

After a long day of hard work the club would like to say “THANK YOU” to everyone who came and supported us on the day. Also, a big thank you for all your donations and your help in the lead up to this event. Casey Cardinia 30+ club is looking towards 2026 when we plan to do it all over again.
