Volunteering at parkrun is awesome..... by Michelle Mullins

Volunteering at parkrun is awesome.....

But when we do it as a group, it makes it so much better don't you think?

May's Masters' takeover saw us attend KM Reedy parkrun in Hampton Park on a weather perfect for parkrun day.

At 7.30 on the dot Vollies began to don not only the distinctive red, blue and yellow vests, but also the orange vests were keenly sought after by avid pacers.

It was later checked by our own statistician (Bernie) that it was their 3rd highest attendance since beginning in January 2019.

We were under the Run Directorship of Victor, who warmly welcomed us as our banner and flag were raised to tell everyone who the colourful uniforms belonged to. Then informed us that the 'A Course' was the choice for everyone.

Pramesh took lead and course checked whilst Michelle sorted each Volunteer to their assigned role as well as on course photographer. Steven was legendary in Time Keeping with Hsien taking charge of the Finish Tokens and Marnie who super Scanned everyone until her other half, Bernie, joined in too. Michael attended as our parkwalker and counted all the tokens into order upon completion. With Albin bringing up the rear as Tail Walker, the 76 participants were all accounted for.

Pacers being the order of the day started with Bernie at 25min, Andrew 27min, Pramesh 30, Tracey 32, Owen 38, Jo-Anne 40, and Arlene 42. Magnificent to see all the orange out on course giving a helping hand to those who chose to go just a little quicker. You never know who's watching you when you're a Pacer and it gives so much joy when you see them come through the flags.

Our next adventure of Volunteering will take us to Pakenham parkrun on 28th June. The roster will once again be on the front and centre table on Monday nights. All roles are very easy and any training and support will be provided on the day.

If you can't make the Volunteers roster, we would definitely love to see you out on course too.
