VMA Pentathlon Championship 2025

If you want to challenge yourself, operate outside the your comfort zone then pentathlon is the event to go for. Here you can compete in a friendly environment. The competition started at 09:40am for the first age group 65-69. The event was in a fitting setting at Albert Lake Park Atheltics track, home of Athletics Victoria. Pentathlon is an event with five disciplines. Men compete in long jump, javelin, 200m sprint, followed by by discus and as the final event, the 1500m run. The girls have a slightly different setup. Long jump, javelin, 100m, shot put and finishing off with the 800m. Unfortunately, the Casey team had their individual competition at a different time, some not starting before lunchtime.

Brian Greaves was the oldest competitor aged 90+. This event was a success with the second highest number of participants in its history. The storm over night did thankfully calm down to a stronger wind, still providing a challenge for the various events. VMA and its volunteers did a brilliant job, all events were run on time. Gurinder, David, Mesh and Albin were the representatives for Casey Masters. Everyone managed to reach a score of over 1000 points. The results are as following:

  • Gurinder 1706pts

  • Daivd 1761pts

  • Mesh 1436pts

  • Albin 1152pts

I’m sure we will hear all the stories at our club night next Monday.
